Learning is an Art has announced a Digital Media Contest for schools that highlights the Toys for Tots program. Students are invited to create a video, write a song, create a poem, take a photograph, make a poster, or use some other media, that tells the story of Toys for Tots, in order to create awareness about Toys for Tots. Schools are encouraged to post student entries in their schools and communities to generate donations to Toys for Tots this holiday season. Participating students can win $1,000 for their school, as well as a Learning is an Art gift certificate for themselves. Learning is an Art has also set up its website, LearningisanArt.com, to allow customers to purchase products that will be shipped directly to Toys for Tots. The Learning is an Art Toys for Tots Digital Media Contest runs from Monday, September 8, 2008 through Friday, November 28, 2008, and is open to students in grades K-12.
The first place winner in each of three categories (K-4, 5-8, and 9-12) will win a $50 Learning is an Art gift certificate, and the winner’s school will win $1,000 cash. The 2nd place winner in each category will win a $25 Learning is an Art gift certificate, and the winner’s school will win a $100 Learning is an Art gift certificate. Here’s the details:
- Young people are invited to create a poster, song, computer-generated drawing, photograph, video, or other print or digital-media project about Toys for Tots. Let people know that Toys for Tots is there, and how people can help! (You may even wish to display these projects within your school and community to encourage people to donate to Toys for Tots!)
- Public and private elementary, middle, and high schools (K-12), along with nonprofit homeschooling cooperatives, are welcome to participate. The school should send the top 5 entries in ONE envelope to Learning is an Art, 52 Beacon Hill Drive, Metuchen, NJ, postmarked NO LATER than Friday, November 30, 2007. Digital media projects should be sent on a CD or DVD. Posters and photographs may be sent in paper format. No entries will be returned, so please keep a copy!
- Learning is an Art will announce the winner no later than Friday, December 12. Winning entries will be displayed on Learning is an Art’s website at http://www.learningisanart.com.
We invite your school to participate in this exciting program! Encourage your students to think of others this holiday season, learn more about the Toys for Tots organization, and put their creativity to work as they design a print or digital media project that captures what Toys for Tots is all about. But remember, your top five entries must be postmarked NO LATER than Friday, November 28, 2008.
